Long time hooker
"I've been using the Hooker Straps for years. They not only help acclimate your hands to hook gripping, they find a sweet spot between classic "taking your grip out of the equation" straps and going strapless. The Kaiju Fat Hooker Straps are an improvement in every way over the originals; if you are considering getting them, spend the extra couple bucks and get these over the originals. They're not only softer but the extra width feels more like athletic tape around your thumb. Since Spud has basically no information at all about how to use these, here's how: put the loop over your thumb and push it to where it meets your palm. Put your hand over the bar and let the strap hang straight down with the sewn nub facing you. Now wrap the strap across the bar facing away from you, and let your pinkie or ring finger grip that nub as you wrap your index and middle finger around your thumb in the hook grip. Imagine making a horizontal line from your thumb to your pinkie. It takes more practice to use these than a normal strap, but once you get the hang of it, it's quite fast. You can also let the strap just hang and hook grip around the looped thumb like athletic tape. I do have two things I'd like to see improved. I wish there was an inch or two of strap after the sewn-in nub to make it easier to rotate it around the bar and strap into place like regular straps. It's more tricky than it needs to be one-handed. Second, I wish there was a tiny Spud logo (or maybe just the 'S') sewn onto these just to look cool."
