Bowtie Vice

Shoulder pain, stiffness and tightness is an epidemic amongst athletes and everyday people. This is the result of athletes constantly performing with their shoulders flexing forward and nearly every other day-to-day activity, including driving, eating, texting and working, all contributing to that same uncomfortable and unhealthy ‘hunched’ forward position.

The solution; properly applied compression! Created by former professional athlete Donnie Thompson and manufactured  by Spud Inc, the original Thompson Bowtie has helped thousands of shoulders feel better and performance better. How? The Bowtie was designed to provide evenly distributed compression around the shoulders (glenoids) helping to guide them back into their proper position (central socket).

Worn during activity or at rest, the Bowtie helps reduce tightness in the shoulders, helps open up the chest and upper body (relieving pressure on the brachial plexus) while also reducing stress on surrounding tissues including the bicep tendon.

Immediately upon its release, the original Bowtie set a new standard for wearable compression. Now the all new Bowtie Vice goes even further. Developed over the last three years, the Bowtie Vice features stronger material for nearly twice the compression, longer straps for easy adjustment and is even more comfortable than the original so it can be worn for several hours at a time with zero numbness, discomfort or pinching. It has been said that,"if you have arms, you need a Bowtie”.

And for those who push their arms and bodies to the extreme, they need a Bowtie Vice. Wear the original Wear the best  Wear a Thompson Bowtie by Spud Inc

Love My Vice!

"I use the Bowtie Vice during squat and bench sessions. My shoulders feel amazing afterwards as a direct result of the compression this provides."

Shoulder Love

"If you’re looking to give your shoulders some much needed love and attention, look no further than the Bowtie Vice. It feels great on the shoulders, I wear mine everyday while traveling to the fire house or while working out. It’s the right amount of vice gripping force needed for my shoulders. If you want to stay in the game for a long time I would absolutely recommend the Bowtie Vice!!!"

Painful but great for posture correction.

"According to the size chart I should buy a 3X but it goes by weight instead of chest and shoulder measurements. I'm fat with small shoulders and chest. AI suggested I buy the 2X and I did. It was very painful and super tight at first but is starting to break in a little. Also my horrible posture is being corrected so it fits better. I learned to not fight it and let it push my shoulders way back. I wear it for a couple of hours after a good upper body workout and sometimes on off days. The initial pain paid off and it is helping with body pain all the way down to my feet by standing tall and straight."

Vice is Perfect

"I have all models of the Bowtie. I prefer the vice with the ease of adjustment and thin straps at the right place. I am 5’6” and weigh 195lb with sub 15% body fat. I ordered the large but honestly think I could have went with the XL for all day comfort. The large fits and does the job but is perhaps a bit more on the restrictive side then what everyday extended wear would comfortably require."

The Bowtie Vice

"The Bowtie Life has been part of my routine for a long time. I’m am super excited for the Vice. The quality is unmatched. Donnie Thompson and SPUD have done it again. As a retired U. S. Army veteran, I was proud to become a Bowtie user. I immediately noticed improved tension and the addition of straps that make self-adjustment simple and reliable. Great design and excellent performance."

OG Bowtie User Review

"I bought my first Thompson/Spud Bowtie in 2016. I sit at a desk all day and wear it to yank my shoulders back. It helps with my posture and it noticeably prevents tension headaches. I've read some complaints about this updated model online and I thought I'd share my advice, because it has some nice improvements. The complaints are mostly about painfully pinching in the armpits, which the old Bowtie could also do if it was worn too high. The trick is pull it down as far as you can on both sides, then pull the tops into place over your shoulders one at a time. On the old Bowtie, this was best achieved by wearing it upside down (Donnie Thompson trains with a giant he calls Levi the Fireman, who I first saw wear it this way in a Youtube video). The new Bowtie Vice is basically this upside-down position; strangely, the logo is even upside-down now (the "V" for Vice is right side up). The side loops help yank each side down easier than the old center tail did on the previous model (which cost extra), especially when you just need to quickly adjust it down a bit if it crept up while wearing it. The top loops are also bigger for leverage. The built-in pinched section really helps dig into the shoulder to yank them back. I suspect it will break in over time like my 9 year old Formal Bowtie, but the extra compression feels great."

Bow Tie Vice

"Okay, I can see the benefits of this tool. I’ve used it for a while my shoulder felt pretty good but it rubs really bad under my arm pits and the top pulley is pressed hard against the front of my shoulder. Maybe it’s too small? I’m usually a great fan of spud and was super excited to try the vice out but I’m unsure if that how it’s supposed to feel or not, maybe I need to get used to it more."
