Training, Drive Ins, and Birthdays

A little training, a little chillin, and birthday thoughts

Saturday 9/1 Lower

Saturday was an outside work day.  I enjoy getting a higher work volume in on Saturday.  I need to make my workouts through the week a little more like my Saturdays.

Sled with 25 lb plate for 2 laps warm up/wake up.  Yoke walk (empty yoke is around 300 lbs empty) 4 passes down and back (rest in middle) of about 40 yards.

1 lap alternating forward and backward drags with 1.5 plates.

Stone carry using stone strap: 115 lbs for 3 trips of about 40 yards down and back (rest in middle).

Stone carry with 185 lb stone: 40 yards down, rest, back 2 times.  This one was a lot tougher than the baby stone, but I liked the feel it gave my upper back and rear delts.

Sled with 2.5 plates for 1 lap mostly forward with a bit of backward drags sprinkled in.  There was lots of resting between drags.  I could only manage about 25 yards at a time before my lungs and legs hated me.

We went to a birthday party for my Boss lady Susan Saturday afternoon.  We had a fun time hanging out with people outside of the gym setting.  Lots of good food and bit of spirits from Gorget who is a local distillery I want to go to do some tastings because everything I have had from them is awesome.

Saturday night was movie night at the drive in (yes, I said drive in).  We have a drive in movie place about 45 minutes away from us so we don’t go often, but they were playing The Princess Bride, which is my wife and I’s favorite movie to watch together.  We ended up watching that one and staying for Grease right afterwards (I mainly dozed off as I kinda hate musicals).  It was a fun night and I was worthless the next day since we didn’t get in the bed until 2:00, but it was worth it.

Tuesday was my birthday and a ton of people wished me a happy birthday and I’d like to say thank you to everyone who took the time out of their day to do that.  I don’t say it enough, but I am a very lucky man.  I have a great wife, family, and a job I enjoy going to every day (the people and the job).  It is easy to get caught up in the day to day and be bogged down with what you don’t have or someone else has or does better than you. Don’t do it!  Enjoy life, be grateful for what you have and love the ones close to you.
