back to actual training a bit
I actually got 3 days of training is last week!!
Wednesday 5/2: Deads: Worked up to 315 bar weight and added chain from there for triples. 2 chains X 3, 3 chains X 3, 4 chains X 3, 5 Chains X 2 sets of 3, 6 chains X 3.
Standing ab crunch: 3 sets of 15
Sled pulling: 2 laps with a 25.
Friday we went to check out a place to get raw goat's milk and free range eggs called Goat Daddy's farm in Elgin. It was an awesome place with pigs,goats, turkey, emu's, and their own apiary. If you around this area and you like locally sourced food you have to check them out!
Wheelbarrow with 90 lbs near the handles: 2 laps around the building (rest between laps). Forgot how much I like these. Adding them back into the rotation for sure.
Leg Press: warmed up to 6 plates X 4 sets of 15.
Hanging knee raise: 2 sets of 12
Squats with Duffalo Bar: 1 whopping plate X 4 sets of 10. I have not squatted in forever so these felt pretty terrible.
Sled dragging: 2 laps with a 35 lb plate. One lap regular dragging, 1 lap alternating upper body triceps ext, chest flys. Luckily these drags loosened up my legs that were incredibly sore from Saturday’s massive squat session.
Bench: 135 X 3 sets of 10, 185 X 5 sets of 5. These felt better the more I did so at least that’s encouraging. I may get crazy next week and go up to 225….
Incline Hammer chest press: 1 plate X 2 sets of 10, 1.5 plates X 2 sets of 6. My chest and tries would have lost a fight with a wet paper bag. It is amazing that when you stop training you lose a lot of muscle and conditioning….
Triceps extension using long ab strap: 3 sets of 10-12
Week 1 of the diet went well. It will be lots of learning and mistakes, so far so good. I am down to 291 even after having some beer and a food truck boloney quesadilla on Saturday. The tap room we like to go to (random Tap) had a food truck that specializes in making different dishes with boloney in it, so I couldn’t not try it out right? If you get a chance visit the truck called “That’s Boloney”. I Stuck close to the diet all week even on the weekend (with the exception of the beer and boloney incident), but that was a planned last beer drinking night with my wife before the transfer on the 22nd. The goal is to crack the 280’s this week and get as far down as I can since we have a graduation cook out party for my wife’s cousin Saturday. I know there will be more food eaten than should be, so better behave this week, but the good news is that I know steak is on the menu.
